Really. Clearly, those "value voters" aren't all that interested in the teachings supposedly recorded as the words of that person, who may or may not have lived and spoken them.

They're all about politics, not Christianity. They're all about the kind of politics that produces and elects people like Trump. I don't think Jesus is in play, really, in any way at all.

where Jesus still has a great deal to do with it. Two parallel belief systems that in many simply never conflict because they're not allowed to. Bizarre, but it's the same thing Ben Carson does when he believes simultaneously in wildly contradictory concepts of modern science and fundamentalist religious precepts.

Our hope lies in the many conservatives who are able to see the profound moral, religious, ethical conflicts. They have Gorsuch on the court now (which I'm afraid they will live to regret), and that was one big reason most of these gave for voting for Trump.

when they wake in the night and lie there bothered. Treat them courteously as some at least contemplate the government they now have. We don't need all that many to just stay home in 2018. Their vote and/or non-vote is as hugely powerful in its potential as ours, and some are questioning their decisions even if they won't admit it.
