General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am usually terrible at making political presdictions, but I can comfortably say one thing.
Trump and the Republicans are going to own what they do to Obamacare. All of the headwinds Obama faced as President can be attributed to two main things, racism and the fact that a huge chunk of the electorate have terrible long-term memories. That second piece is going to come back and bite the GOP big time when premiums rise and people start losing coverage.
If Trump thinks people will still blame Obama come 2018 and 2020, hes sorely mistaken. We need to do everything in our power to make sure that results in serious pain for them at the ballot box.

(2,404 posts)We'll see how much fawning his doe-eyed base continues to do when the reality of losing their healthcare (thanks to that wonderful ACA that the Republicans came up with to replace that awful Obamacare) sinks in.
GOP, this is called being between a rock and a hard place.

There was a woman speaking about Harvey Weinstein's bullying (Emma Thompson, maybe?) and how she called him on his bullying (it was about work, rights to a film, or something like that) and she said that since then, every time she's in the same room as her he cowered.

He'll crow it from every podium without shame. We'll see if the "Low Information" Voters can keep the truth in their Flibberdigibbet brains. I have little faith left.
Would that Dems had bothered to mention Rubio's 2012 Sabotage of the Risk Corridors during 2016.

In a way, Trump's actions may lead to a single payer system or at least a system that is mostly singlepayer. Corporations have been struggling with healthcare costs for a couple of decades, they are reaching a breaking point, once employed people start getting stuck with shitty health insurance, there will be a large outcry and those opposing more universal coverage will start to pay a price.

There is no line to be crossed that will change their mind.
Unless Mueller acts soon, we will be suffering until at the very earliest, the 2018 elections. And unless Russian corruption is dereailed and a Democratic voter turn out dwarfs those still voting against their own interests due to The Stupid, the racism, the bigotry, the misogyny we as a nation, will deteriorate for the remainder of this wretched term of the presidency of Inhumanity.
Every day is a war. Have any of us not met every day wondering what the hellbwe will be fighting this time?

(25,857 posts)They will continue to blame Obama and the Democrats for the horror they're going to make of the ACA. Especially Trump. He'll just claim he signed that executive order leaving it up to the insurance companies and the citizens buying said insurance. Not his fault at all.
Democrats need to be out there every single day laying it on them, but they don't seem to be very good at that.

(31,261 posts)It is destroying us from within and Europe is starting to talk of negotiating some type of accommodation with Russia. Countries like Poland and the Baltic States get left out in the cold. I think the Czech Republic and Slovenia are too integrated into Europe to turn back, but places like Hungary, Romania may get a bear hug.
