Erin Burnett with my all time hero...Tammy Duckworth.
The conversation? DT's disrespect of our troops. Who could score on the topic better than a true American hero.

and i say that as someone who lost a hard fought primary campaign to her way back when. i lambasted her, she was a d-trip candidate dropped on a good candidate who wasnt raking in enough dough.
all water under the bridge, tho. so proud of her.
and yeah, run for president any time, madam senator. i will work my little fingers to the bone.

(16,866 posts)I love her for her courage, her commitment and her strength...truly sorry for your campaign loss, but she is a gem, at least to me, because shes a representative of my own military service. I hope she pursues great things going forward!

rahm's doing.

(70,145 posts)her first issue was ending the alternative minimum tax.
then, she had a mealy mouthed stance on choice, when her opponent, christine cegelis, had been outspoken on choice.
but it was all about raising money. in spite of 3 years of show leather that might well have won. tammy lost.
christine is still a friend.

(70,145 posts)will pitt came out to campaign. election night was infuriating, as will and the other high ups were holed up trying to decide what to do, and the party was a whole lot of wtf.
no fun at all.

OMG OMG....she is wearing a Joe Walsh tee shirt...she is a hoot.
The ensuing campaign between Walsh and Duckworth emerged as a bitter race. At a July 2012 campaign event, Walsh accused his opponent of politicizing both her military service as a helicopter pilot and her Iraq War injuries which cost her both legs and the partial use of one arm. He said, "My God, that's all she talks about. Our true heroes, the men and women who served us, it's the last thing in the world they talk about."[51][52] Walsh later suggested that she was, in fact, a "true hero," but that she should not talk about her service so frequently,[53] and that her service should not command votes.[54] Walsh decided to skip the 2012 Republican National Convention, distancing himself from establishment Republicans.[49]

You and others here have provided so many ways of engaging and empowering my teenage daughters in these very frustrating times, so for that I thank you. Your posts have impact and are appreciated, even if you dont know it!

Tammy Duckworth is an extraordinary Democrat.
Here, view it (again):
And her incredible 2012 DNC Convention speech (view it, too):
