Question

I have a question to any military people on DU. Of the 4 Green Berets taken out in Niger, 3 of them were E-6's and 1 E-5. When I was in the Army, that would be an exceptionally high number of E-6's for a patrol. In Vietnam I was an E-4 and got sent out on missions with other E-4's. In our company of 50 we had only one E-7. So why were there so many E-6's put on patrol like that? And how many were in the patrol? This is really dumbfounding to me. Maybe someone can give me some insights into this and why it was so lop-sided in E-6's.

but can speak on the overuse of apostrophes. One can type E-6s to refer to multiple soldiers with E-6 pay grade. E-6's would refer to a possession of an E-6, such as an E-6's uniform.

Nit picky, I know, but 5 uses in a paragraph sets off even my lax grammar police mode.

Total guess, but wouldn't a training group be heavier with more experienced personnel?

unlike a combat platoon, all these guys are there BECAUSE of their rank and experience. Doubtful there are any lower grade individuals, but just a guess.
