(30,058 posts)I remember when Reagan started showing signs of dementia and his staff denied it was happening but as the years continued it was announced. In the case of Trump who is in way over his head I don't know if it is dementia or lack of education. He is unable to get his way or bluff his way and is probably more he is capable of accepting.

BIG Corporations get a huge tax cut (from 35 to 20%), inheritance tax abolished is a gargantuan gift to the ultra rich, DACA is 4 months away from going away, Subsidies to the poor for health insurance going away which will destroy ACA. If this is dementia, I wonder what damage a "sane" Trump would do?

(6,044 posts)Trump has had behavioral issues since childhood. Elevated lead levels in children were a huge public health problem in his childhood years.
If he has early dementia he would be in a small group of people his age who have dementia.
I am wary of unnamed sources inside the White House claiming dementia because a diagnosis can be used to avoid being brought to justice in both criminal and civil cases.
Trump grew up in NYC, had mob connections, and would be well aware of an infamous mob boss who feigned dementia. He walked the streets of NYC in a bathrobe and seemingly unaware of his surroundings in an effort to avoid prosecution.

(6,044 posts)Kelly went to a public event about two years ago and totally mis-remembered what occurred. He then recently recounted his mis-remembered experience as fact, and in doing so became highly emotional, agitated and combative and engaged in name calling.
When confronted with videotaped evidence that he mis-remembered his experience ,he refused to back down, continued to insist he was correct, and continued to engage in name calling.
John Kelly is 67 years old. Does he have dementia?

(50,302 posts)I don't care who you are, but when you get to a certain age things start to change. You lose things, forget things and while perfectly functional are not 100% anymore. A person must be 100% to be POTUS. This isn't "age-ism," it's what I'm currently experiencing as I near 69. Trump, I'm afraid, is in a much worse predicament than the average older person. He appears to have dementia on top of pre-existing personality disorders.
