Charles Pierce Calls Out S.E. Cupp For Her Colossal Idiocy

From Crooks & Liars:

I've already expressed my disdain for this woman and the fact that MSNBC gave her a spot co-hosting a show here -- S.E. Cupp Defends Disenfranchising Millions of Voters as Solution to 86 Cases of Voter Fraud. Apparently Esquire's Charles Pierce isn't any more fond of her than I am.

S.E. Cupp Is a Colossal Idiot: In case you've missed it, MSNBC has compensated for the loss of Dylan Ratigan in the afternoon by moving Martin Bashir to 4 p.m. Eastern, and filling Bashir's old 3 p.m. slot with something called The Cycle, which is kind of Around The Horn for young pundits. The regular cast includes the younger generation among MSNBC's apparently inexhaustible reservoir of Political Analysts. These include Krystal Ball, Steve Kornacki, Touré, and S.E. Cupp and, this afternoon, as the program was winding down, Ms. Cupp spent a good four minutes being, weight for age, the dumbest person in the history of cable television:

To review: Talking about the president's tax proposal, Ms. Cupp rather loosely termed the president's tax policy "collectivist." (And, yes, both Mao and Stalin laughed uproariously as their spits turned over the flames of hell.) Kornacki gently reminded her that an increase in the marginal income tax tax rate is a lot of things — including, to my mind, a pretty good idea, but no matter — but it is in no way "collectivist," if English words have any meaning in, you know, English. Read on...

MSNBC really needs to rethink why they want to have this woman on the air... ever... at all... as a host or a guest. She lowers the IQ in the room when she enters it and sucks most of the oxygen out as well. I'm not sure how anyone ever possibly comes out better or smarter for the experience of being forced to maintain a dialog with her.

I totally agree. Her presence on MSNBC is an insult to us all. I will never watch 'The Cycle.'

I hear all that stuff all the time on the radio, and I was really glad to see it finally get refuted, brilliantly, by Steve Kornacki. He asked the question I have been screaming since Obama has been elected: what has Obama DONE that matches all these characterizations of him, all these names you are calling him (in Cupps case, collectivist)?

Plus it is nice to see a conservative actually citing Ayn Rand on TV. The conservative movement doesnt like a spotlight on their radical roots,so it is nice to see Cupp put one there for all to see.

Plus the panning camera gets nauseating after a while, gives me vertigo, or somethin'.

In case anyone has missed this, MSNBC was just purchased, and NBC has always been more right-wing than they are. Even MSNBC has always been the media's representation of the fake-left of the ideological spectrum.

The real left is so much further to the left, and you can see that when you read message boards and listen to call-in shows. It shouldn't be a surprise that real people are far more liberal than shows where half or more of the guests are millionaires. Just check it out next time. There were six on the panel of David Gregory's weekend offering, and three of them were clearly millionaires, one or two of them probably centa-millionaires. They'd have to find three street bums to equalize that kind of moneyed elitism.

And didja see her talk about atheists last week? She said that, in fact, she is one, but she would never vote for one to be President. All that, plus the sexy librarian glasses: She's a stupid person's idea of a smart person's idea of a stupid person trying to act smart.

And rightly so. Otherwise, there would be a lot of inappropriate and offensive commentary on S.E. Cupp and "The Cycle." The jokes just write themselves.

She claims she is an atheist yet she wouldn't vote for one. Her Wikipedia profile lists Glenn Beck as a mentor and admirer. That's just sick. She needs to grow up and learn what critical thinking is all about.

for at least 4 yrs now but I've never created an account to comment.

When I read this, I almost broke down and created an account to agree with the author of this post. I will not watch this show. Steve's Kornacki's rebuttal was perfect.

WHAT. WAS. MSNBC. THINKING?

As soon as I read the lead in post I thought to myself, she has got to be a good looking woman. Fox seems to think that if you wrap a turd in a good looking package people will swallow it. For the most part judging from their audience they are right.

My god was her observation absolutely stupid.

He dealt with crystals in a highly technological sense (I do not know what I'm talking about), but seriously, he's some super smart kind of pioneer, 'ceptin for naming' his daughter. She ran for congress in Va (I think) in 2010. I gave her $10. See how I spelled 'Seriously'. Take note. Seriresly
