I made some minor donations so now I'm on 'the list'.

The e-mail list for continuing donations, that is. That's okay. I don't mind. I'm also on the list to be invited to Obama's birthday party in Chicago but don't tell him!

Anyways, one of the emails asked for a personal narrative of how you got involved in the campaign. Below is what I wrote.

In 2008, our country was badly in need of a new direction after the disastrous adventures of the Bush administration. The Obama and Biden team stepped into the spotlight and gave us what amounted to a political sigh of relief.

My two daughters and I campaigned in 2008 by going door to door collecting signatures and making our views for the direction of our country known to our neighbors. It was their first experience with politics.

Now it is 2012 and the re-election campaign is under way. The Obama/Biden team is still the team that gives us hope and enthusiasm for our future. Instead of taking away from the middle class, they talk about strengthening it. Instead of disparaging government, they talk about improving it.

The over-riding message one gets from the current administration is that our future should NOT be about doing less for our fellow citizens but about moving forward and finding new ways to bring us together in a common purpose. The past 4 years have sometimes been across a rocky road and the next 4 years will not be easy.

But the hope and enthusiasm my daughters and I saw in 2008 is still here in 2012. That kind of energy is sometimes difficult to encourage but, once released, nearly impossible to quench.

The Obama/Biden team gives us something to celebrate, not denigrate. How could we NOT be inspired by that?

Now, if anyone from the DNC is reading, try and get me promoted on that Chicago birthday party list! Think of the photo-ops with my two gorgeous daughters!

I'm also pretty flexible with time and circumstances so if you have a paying position open...I'm open.

...going to Chicago would BE their birthday present. They are very politically conscious this year.
