A private prison group moved its annual conference to the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami this year, in an apparent ongoing effort to align more closely with President Trump.
The Washington Post reported that GEO Group, a private prison company, has ramped up its political spending, donating millions of dollars over the past two years to support Trump including donating to super PACs and the inaugural committee making campaign donations and lobbying.
GEO Group, which owns and manages about 140 prisons and detention centers, moved its conference to the Trump golf course this year.
One of Trumps earliest moves in his presidency was to roll back Obama-era plans to reduce the use of private prisons. GEO has benefited from this action, scoring the Trump administrations first contract for an immigration detention center, according to the Post ...

(479 posts)So much is happening that will hurt so many people. All the things that Obama quietly accomplished were ignored or even scoffed at by not just the GOP but by many progressives as well. It gets more sickening every day to have 45 in office.

(22,651 posts)state & local prisons/jails stuffed with millions of people- some "leased" to Corporations as cheap 20 cent an hour slaves- fighting wildfires, working fishfarms, sewing factories, 8,000 cow dairys- digging gaslines, pipelines-- legal 13th amendment slavery. The people in prisons for 20, 40, 50 year terms make the best slaves.
other 'prisoners' hooked -up in to local "fines" systems- pay your fines to the court for years or you'll go back to jail.
