Report: Milo Cancels Arizona Event After 62 Venues Decline To Host Him

By ALLEGRA KIRKLAND Published OCTOBER 27, 2017 2:32 PM

No fewer than 62 Phoenix venues have turned down the opportunity to host Milo Yiannopolous, the Internet provocateur known for his cozy ties to white nationalists, for a “Free Speech Arizona” event, the Phoenix New Times reported Thursday. His visit to the southwestern city has been canceled as a result.

A spokesperson for the United Liberty Coalition, a far-right group that purports to “defend our Constitutionally protected liberty” and had invited Yiannopolous to speak, told the New Times that venues were scared off by security risks or simply disagreed with his views.

“We know that at least 20 of them pulled out or denied use because of fear of retaliation and violence,” United Liberty Coalition’s Shelby Busch wrote in an email to the publication. “A few of them denied us because they researched Milo and decided they did not want to be involved because of what they have seen on the news.”

The group subsequently issued a statement on its Facebook page lamenting that they had had to ask Yiannopolous to drop out because they were unable to guarantee the safety of someone of his “stature.” A quote from Yiannopolous included in the statement decries the ability of “left-wing bullies” to shut down conservative speakers and asks the U.S. government to uphold their duty to “defend free speech.”

.... from a disgusting little piece of nothing that seeks to quell free speech whenever he and his disgusting bowel movement of a political party disagrees with it.

They plan events. Those events attract unruly crowds. The venues cancel. They cry free speech and gain more followers. Repeat the cycle.

.... the snide little piece of nothing Milo probably figures he wins either way. Either he gets paid for the event or he can whine he's being censored and whip up more idiots.

I'm really at a loss to understand why a worthless little piece of nothing like him lives with himself selling hatred and insults, but he probably figures the idiots who actually pay him aren't worthy of any respect anyhow.

Free speech applies ONLY to THEIR speech.

I've got an awesome 1/4 mile stretch nearby that is the best place for "chicken" ever.

They seem to have re-invented it to serve their purposes. Unfortunately, their idiot followers don't get it either.

Citizens United sure as hell made that clear, at least for Republicans.

To them, the right to be heard and the power and control you deserve is in proportion to your assets.

That IS the war we are fighting every day!

3. If United Liberty Coalition wants to party with Milo, do it out in the boonies...

...throw a kegger out in the desert. Surely one of AZ's more racist rednecks has an out-of-the-way piece of property that would be fitting for their bonfires and tiki torch parade. That way they could have their little whiteness "rally" without bothering anyone else. Unfortunately, that's the rub, because the goal of these little Milopaloozas is all about stirring the shit and bothering other people.

(A)sks the U.S. government to uphold their duty to “defend free speech.”

By doing what, exactly? Forcing venues to host you?

Next you'll be demanding that businesses cater to your lifestyle. Right?

11. Turns out being a horribly shitty person does have long term consequences

But not until after said shitty person has done massive irreparable damage to the national discourse through his support of white nationalists and white supremacists. And all for what? To be dropped like a hot rock as soon as he had the slightest whiff of impropriety and then to be basically be blackballed everywhere. Did Milo really think that the GOP or Breitbart was going to stand up for him? They held their noses to hang out with him -because- he was openly gay, just so they could say they had some LGBTQ+ on their side to court naive gays and to give right-wing dudes a reason to say that Trump was actually pro-gay, no really!

Ugh!!!! And after he turns out to be a pedophile apologist, cementing another right-wing LGBTQ+ stereotype. I don't know if there's any way that Milo could have screwed things up worse for himself, for the trans kids he hated so much, and for the larger LGBTQ+ civil rights movement.

Go sit on 12 dozen cacti, asshole.

12. Milo's crew flashing the Nazi salute while he sings "America the Beautiful"

Fucking little scumbag. Almost half a million Americans died fighting the Nazis, and millions of his own countrymen, and he has the nerve to come here and have his crew flash that salute while he sings a patriotic American song? And then whine about his freedom of speech? Fucking degenerate.

I am so glad Antifa kicked this little shit out of Berkeley.

Milo the Martyr gets to throw a pity party for himself, his supporters bleat a bunch of crap they don't really believe, and the popular media cover it as if something more significant happened than a self-promoting huckster got to gobble down a bunch of headlines.
