My monthly premiums are rising $230.
I'm going to have to get a second part time job to cover this expense.

(46,117 posts)My take home pay is maybe $18,000 annually. Insurance will take 1/6 of that amount.

(9,527 posts)I just did a search on healthcare.gov guessing on age, gender and zip code, and for a 45 year old male making $24,000 a year, a silver plan can be below $200 a month after your subsidy. Obviously your specific demographics can change that some, but I would be you can get a better deal than a plan going up $230 a month.

(4,379 posts)The Republicans and Trump sabotaged the entire healthcare system. Insurance companies are completely confused. That confusion will show next year.

(50,276 posts)My husband was only TESTED for type 2 diabetes and our insurance went up to 3 times our mortgage payment. And our deductible was so high they never, ever paid a dime for anything. Democrats have to regain control of this mess because the ACA is easily fixable.

(82,383 posts)or what They have done to undermine the ACA.
Also raw figures don't mean much. How many people covered and how much you make comes into play. How much will be subsidized (or would have been under the proper calculations for the ACA).

(4,379 posts)Many people have no idea what was in Obamacare and they have no idea how much it did help. My monthly premiums went through the roof the years before Obamacare. I don't have Obamacare. My insurance has always been through my employers. The increases were less after Obamacare was put in place. I do not believe most people understand this. They will.

(32,707 posts)Trump has issued several executive orders to undermine the ACA as we knew it, so we can't really call it the ACA.
