Puerto Rico Governor Moves to Cancel Controversial Whitefish Contract

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosello on Sunday moved to cancel a controversial contract with a company from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s hometown. The company, Whitefish, was awarded a $300 million contract to help rebuild power lines in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Last week, Rosello ordered an inspector general investigation into the contracting process. Zinke had said his relationship with Whitefish’s CEO did not have an effect on the decision to award the company the massive contract. Whitefish got into a public spat on Twitter with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz after she slammed the “alarming” nature of the contract.

And the people they contract for the jobs will be paid $300 an hour.

Yeah, nothing wrong here.

"The contract shows those labor rates are pricey indeed:
$240 an hour for a general foreman and $227 for a lineman.

The per diems are also expensive:
almost $80 a day for meals, and $332 a day for lodging (per person).
Employee flights are billed at $1,000 each way.
