Insiders: Bain Attacks Effective

Insiders: Bain Attacks Effective

By Alex Roarty and Peter Bell

Two months is a long time in presidential politics. A bipartisan swath of election experts now believe President Obama's criticism of Mitt Romney's Bain Capital tenure has been effective, according to the latest National Journal political insiders poll, a shift in opinion since May when a chunk of insiders doubted the tact would work.

The biggest change has occurred among Republicans: In May, half of the GOP insiders thought the criticism was ineffective. Now, only 12 percent of Republicans think Obama's Bain scrutiny won't work -- 67 percent think it is somewhat effective and 22 percent say the criticism is highly effective.

Democrats were initially more bullish about the president's tactics, but their opinions have also swung in Obama's favor. Fifty-four percent of left-leaning insiders thought the party's attack was highly effective two months ago, while nearly 80 percent of them think so now.

Of course I didn't know there was so much dirt.

I still think tying Romney to Bain and Bain to Clear Channel is the quickest way to pull out the rug from Romney's most verbal supporters.

...and talk radio's most annoying personalities. By the election people will admit they liked disco before they'll admit to ever being a dittohead.

Sadly we live in a greedy society...so much so that our culture stands in awe of those who cheat the system and win. For most of our lives the media has portrayed being rich as the ultimate dream and it doesn't matter how you get there. "Free enterprise" is considered sacred despite rules favoring the big and powerful over the little guy...and a large portion of the electorate has been brainwashed that any attack on wealth is generally from those who want the rich's money..."deadbeats", "welfare queens"...it's been a very effective campaing and worked well enough for Mittens to win in 2002.

The tax issue is another matter. No one likes a tax cheat...and this is especially the case in the wake of the financial collapse. Those taxes contain a lot of damning details as to how Willard paid little to no taxes for many years and even got credits on his loses. His Bain holdings surely sit in some offshore account and he surely brought a boatload ashore in '09. Those taxes will answer some questions and launch many many more. Mittens will not fully disclose...he can't.

I'm really beginning to get the feeling that not only did Mittens NOT pay any taxes, I'll bet he got a tax refund.
