Think about what went down, him pleading guilty AND agreeing to work for Mueller.
And NOBODY knew until now?
What ELSE does nobody know?
OH god, If I was a trump team member, I would be buying a big boat to leave the country in right about now.

Sir, please come with me.
Small room.
You're under arrest.
Easy to take you anywhere without the public watching.

(14,628 posts)The general public wouldn't know he was arrested, but airport empoloyees certainly would. And they are the biggest gossips. Anytime anything happens in an airport, it gets spread around pretty quickly.

(16,887 posts)...such a subtle way and without incident (even in a car parked at Dulles Airport) under the guise of transportation taking him home or to work and getting the bad news for George Papadopoulos that way. No eyes, nothing unusual to anyone standing around, even if they were an employee standing by the curb at the entrance of Dulles Airport.
Nothing unusual about Government and White House Administration employees getting into Black SUV's at Dulles Airport.
Its who is sitting and waiting inside that dark shaded windows in that car that matters. And all it would have taken is someone from FBI walking up (not necessarily wearing a big jacket with FBI, but just a dark coat) and saying "Mr. Papadopoulos, Joe Smith of the FBI - please come with me to the vehicle here".
Poor George - he knew already in July for about 6 plus months that he had been lying to the FBI and he was living on borrowed time....and my guess he was tired of lying and scared. He also was likely warned about making a scene. And if he was smart, had already consulted a lawyer before.
Just my thoughts on what went down and how it was not noticed by airport employees and thus kept very quiet as Mueller and his team executed this....

(30,613 posts)and they would have quietly whisked him into a room and out of sight.
Highly unlikely any airport employee would have recognized the guy's face or name. Would you?

(17,984 posts)We have so many conspiratorially minded folks, this sort of thing does not require a large stretch of the imagination.
Maybe someone did mention the possibility and it didn't gain any traction.

(17,984 posts)Not specifically Papadopoulos. We guessed that Flynn or Manyfart might flip and rat out Dotard, but we never imagined someone would have actually gone to the FBI and volunteered to wear a wire.

(5,210 posts)And certainly didn't go to the FBI on his own steam.
Unless I've missed something -- ???
I don't even think it's been determined (for sure) that he wore a wire -- ??? Even tho it's been widely, and authoritatively I might add, speculated by knowledgeable commentators.
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)"Volunteered" because he didn't want to go to prison forever. Whatever the case may be, no one on DU (that I recall) ever mentioned the possibility of a mole.
RandomAccess
(5,210 posts)He "agreed" to wear a wire works for me.
Except, has that been shown for sure, or is just likely? Not that important I guess.
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)I remember that a lot of DUers talked about people flipping, but I do not recall anyone actually thinking that someone still inside the administration (not just an aide) had already flipped. Maybe it did come up and I missed it.

(1,893 posts)Trump campaign emails show aides repeated efforts to set up Russia meetings
By Tom Hamburger, Carol D. Leonnig, Rosalind S. Helderman

Three days after Donald Trump named his campaign foreign policy team in March 2016, the youngest of the new advisers sent an email to seven campaign officials with the subject line: "Meeting with Russian Leadership - Including Putin."
The adviser, George Papadopoulos, offered to set up "a meeting between us and the Russian leadership to discuss US-Russia ties under President Trump," telling them his Russian contacts welcomed the opportunity, according to internal campaign emails read to The Washington Post....

(13,081 posts)That members of the Trump team were wearing phones working as hot mics. She was completely wrong about WHO or WHEN, but the thought that various members of the Trump Admin have been wired up in various ways have been public for quite a while.
Im not defending Louise Mensch, for the record. I think shes definitely abusing drugs and/or mentally ill. Its kind of clear and kind of sad, really.
We also forget that the campaign chairman was under a spy surveillance warrant both while he was the campaign chairman and while he was advising the Vice President Elect daily during the whole transition. Thats just as incredible as Papadopoulos wearing a wire, IMO.
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)We sat around for months hoping there would be a bombshell. This is the biggest bombshell we could have hoped for (if he was wearing a wire and feeding the FBI info all along). In other words, we hoped to catch a small break and got a monster break.

(15,224 posts)It was an amazing feat considering all of the attention on this subject. But, to me, it signifies that Mueller is dead serious about his investigation. He's not interested in publicity or public opinion. He's just doing the job he was hired to do.
And that's what I, for one, want him to do. Bravo!

Man I wonder how much evidence he has gathered on Dump and his criminal administration already??
Seemingly all he has to do is question the principal players under oath and match it with the reams of recorded treasonous republican plots against the USA caught via wire on already turned underlings.

He must have been really really scared. Mueller's group got to him - bigly.
His office behavior must have changed after his arrest. If the White House staff didn't notice, they are even more stupid than I thought.

(2,679 posts)The russian mafia kills snitches and those that speak out against them. Just look at the trail of dead bodies putin leaves. orange man is just a low level thug. putin doesn't give two shits about 2 scoops. putin will never end up in a US prison. But orange most likely will be.
What orange dotard never realized about putin is that he never cared about orange man. All he wanted was to cause chaos and division here. Like the "Cal-exit" crap. That only helps russia. The fact that orange man is an idiot is even better for putin. Now our standing in the world is totally gone. Who stands to benefit from that? Many countries will be very willing to fill the void.
Right now with a weak fake leader our country is in-fighting. Hopefully soon steps will begin that remove us from this parasite. But when that happens we basically won't exists internationally.
If it wasn't for the fact that millions of people are and will suffer because of orange dotard totally getting played by the russian, (yeah, used like a tool), it would be great to watch it (the orangery) realize he was the fool. Hopefully it will cross his mind when he is doing the frog walk to his new and forever home, while the world watches and LOL at him. putin will be in one of his mansions getting a good laugh.

(2,679 posts)Anything after that with THIS venture was icing on the cake.
He will always want those things you listed. And I am sure he has many irons in the fire to seek an end to those goals. Their involvement in our elections was first to cause chaos, and divide. It worked. Second goal was to get his guy in. And that worked. Now he is just trying to see what else he can knock off on his list of things to do while he has a fool doing his bidding.
When orange man is dressed in his orange suit and sitting in jail, putin will still be in charge in Russia and he will be trying to work with who ever is in charge to do the things you stated.
