Garbage out

First, give the driver $20 tip because Papa pays him buttkiss.

Heat the oven to 400 deg-F. Put the pizza, still in the cardboard box, into the oven and reduce the temp to 375 deg-F. After 15 minutes, remove the box with the pizza and place on the top of the stove. (Note: remove earlier if box begins to burn.) Wait 10 minutes, and then remove the pizza from the box.

Throw the pizza in the garbage can and eat the box. Especially good with cheap, commodity beer.

Oh yeah, the smell of the olives was to strong. I do not like olives but I mean the smell of them were to strong....kind of like they poured the water from the cans of olives on the pizza.

The worst about Papa John's is that the idiots put the toppings UNDER the cheese. Just what someone who can't eat meat with nitrates wants when their boss orders a meat lover's pizza. The inability to pick off the toppings.

The only way you knew what it was is either if someone knew and told you or you find out what it is when you bite into what you thought was a cheese pizza.

We started going to one in Queens as Newlyweds 43 years ago. Owners retired and their children took it over. Today their children are retired and the grandkids are running it now. Still tastes the same as 43 years ago. The Grandparents were originally from Italy.

Naples, Florida. Again a small Mom and Pop business. They lived in the community and their special needs son went to the neighborhood public school. I worked with their son in school. I always asked Mom, the Waitress, how Joey was doing. A few times he came in to help out cleaning and setting up tables. A lot of the local people went there and the owners got to know their names. Not close to NY Pizza, BUT it definitely was better than any chain pizza, plus by patronizing your local Mom and Pops, you are supporting your local community too.

Chain Pizza is gross. All of them. I am of Italian heritage and have made pizza from scratch for my husband's former employer's luncheons. I will make pizza myself before I ever darken the doorway of a Poppa John's.

And they make 'Pizza for Dogs, Woof, Woof Woof.'
