Virginia Gov. McAuliffe: If any American was involved with election interference, 'it's treason'

(CNN)Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe suggests special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation could reveal a stark conclusion: treason.

"I mean the bottom line, the crux of this entire issue, is that people were working with a foreign government who you know is not working in our best interests to destabilize our elections and to destabilize our country," McAuliffe told David Axelrod on "The Axe Files," a podcast from the University of Chicago Institute of Politics and CNN

"If we find that any US citizen was involved in this, it's treason," he said.

"We'll see where it goes," the Virginia Democrat said of Mueller's indictments of Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, and George Papadopoulos this week. Papadopoulos, who served as a foreign policy adviser for the Trump campaign, pleaded guilty to making a false statement to the FBI after he lied about his interactions with foreign officials close to the Russian government. Manafort and Gates pleaded not guilty.

i have a friend at work and he comes over to commiserate. i find myself telling him, it's been bad before, even worse...we can pull out of this. then the next day he's shoring me up because i hit bottom and can't find my hope.

it's been nearly a year since the election was stolen for the least qualified, most corrupt, racist, misogynistic, homophobic horror show of a human. i'm still feeling the shock from time to time. this is a catastrophe. i just hope enough people will pay attention and VOTE in 2018. and between then and now, i hope Mueller takes his ass so far down he loses every cent and goes to prison for his crimes.

It's a major problem; this kind of mumbo-jumbo makes our side seem "dishonest" compared to the clear, simple language that RePutins use when telling lies.

Here's what I mean:

"I mean the bottom line, the crux of this entire issue, is that people were working with a foreign government who you know is not working in our best interests to destabilize our elections and to destabilize our country," McAuliffe told David Axelrod on "The Axe Files," a podcast from the University of Chicago Institute of Politics and CNN

"If we find that any US citizen was involved in this, it's treason," he said.

Should be:

"Trump's people were working with America's enemy, Russia, to take over and destroy America," McAuliffe told David Axelrod on "The Axe Files," a podcast.

"It's treason; Mueller is proving that Trump's entire campaign is built on treason" he said.

I agree it is a coup.

If the administration is found guilty of treason does everything they did in office get negated?

needs to be repeated frequently because that's what this was and is. All the narratives on Democratic confusion and lack of unity, blah, blah, blah is to drown out the one true descriptor: Treason.

Mueller has released the dogs from hell. Republicans & associates will rue the day they sold their souls and their country to the highest bidder.

Never forget, never forgive.

No one hates Hillary more than they do. And they backed such winners as McConnell, Ryan, Brownback, Christie, Perry, and Walker.
