Google and Facebook's Congressional Testimonies Reveal a Deep Hypocrisy at the Heart of the Missions

The House and Senate intelligence committees probed legal representatives from Google, Facebook, and Twitter this week over their role in Russia's hacking of the 2016 election. While the three corporate reps played along, claiming ignorance of the extent of the Russian involvement and outrage over it happening at all, their behavior at the testimonies revealed a deep and underlying rot within their companies — one that we all could have seen coming since we first discovered these companies were spying on us. The Google, Facebook, and Twitter congressional hearings this week confirmed that the Russian infiltration of the American election wasn't just a problem of oversight on behalf of those companies. They also revealed that these companies have, to some extent, abandoned their fundamental missions.

Of the three who testified on Capitol Hill on Tuesday and Wednesday, Facebook is under the most heat at the moment. In September, Facebook admitted that Russian accounts had spent $100,000 on 3,000 ads during the election, and claimed the ads reached just 10 million people. On Monday, Facebook revealed that the Russian ads reached a far, far greater number of Facebook users than it had previously predicted: 126 million American users. Then it topped that number yet again on Wednesday when it announced 146 million Facebook users saw the ads. It’s highly likely that they held as much sway over the voters they reached as any other political propaganda during the election. CNN reporter Dylan Byers captured the Facebook backtracking well.

with how great the senators were at admonishing these ultra rich capitalists who obviously have been lying, deceiving and avoiding their roll in assisting Russia to use cyber warfare in our democratic process. Also how they still aren't taking their actions and involvement in the presidential campaign seriously and aren't being honest with the government as well as hiding behind the first amend of free speech when it benefits their corporate earnings/profits. They were correctly accused of working with a foreign enemy for profit and greed.

Definition of laissez-faire

1 :a doctrine opposing governmental interference in economic affairs beyond the minimum necessary for the maintenance of peace and property rights

2 :a philosophy or practice characterized by a usually deliberate abstention from direction or interference especially with individual freedom of choice and action

They failed to do the minimum necessary to maintain peace and property rights, and they deliberately abstained to interfere with the dogma being generated by a foreign power.

And All Franken exposed the Facebook general council it was amazing, how this man and his corporate ideologue, was first and foremost to make a buck at the expense of this country and others around the world, and not having any common sense to say, with principle that rubles maybe a red flag------------------amazing
