Hilarious Video by MSNBC: Trump's Habitual Attempts to Cover Up His Teleprompter Reading Impairment

In case you missed this, Trump tries to cover for his teleprompter misreadings by clumsily amending his sentences on the fly, but the result generally makes no sense, and for those paying close attention it makes him look like more of an incoherent idiot than if he'd just correct himself like a normal person would. For example:

"Our hope is a word... and world, of proud, independent nations."

Chris Hayes explains during the first minute, then examples follow.

Remember taking turns reading aloud in class? I always felt badly for kids who would stumble over words frequently, and this would have been a good strategy for them. Perhaps it is one that Trump learned.

I remember when this erratic absolute nutcase nun who taught science classes (and whom I always suspected was cooking up chemicals in the chem lab, on which to get high) got on the case of a classmate who wanted to tiptoe around the word “Norfolk” as in Norfolk, VA”. The student read it as “Nor-folk.” The nun jumped all over her and said “NO, Cheryl! It’s ‘Nor-fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Nor-FUCK!” We all cowered behind our textbooks trying desperately not to laugh out loud! That poor student was so humiliated!

The first time he said "diversary" he didn't catch his own mistake with. It was the second or third time he screwed up the word when he did the "and diversity" correction.

I have no doubt that President Obama read every word ahead of time so that he knew what was coming on the screen.

That 3catwoman3 is writing the copy for the teleprompter. So, there's the problem.

is such a damn good speaker that he went off script and did not screw up. He was able to go off but blend it beautifully with the script. I did hear him screw up a few times and either corrected it smoothly or stopped, looked around, laughed, apologized, and went on. That was not very often. Trump's ability to speak sounds like a second grader or third grader and that might be an insult to them.

would back up and simply say, “excuse me, (insert correct word here).”

But tRump can never admit an error, and he thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, so he goes with this laughable tact of “fixing” his blunders. Plus, making a normal correction would highlight the fact that he is using a teleprompter, or reading from a sheet of paper, and that he can’t even do that effectively.

I'd call this "Presidential Rebuffering".

You know when you're watching a video and it's got to stop and spin a little because your connection was interrupted?

You need lots of RAM to be a good public speaker.

Since he can't read because he is mentally deficient, then teleprompters are a bad thing. Books are also bad and intelligent people are all elitist unless they are the 1%, then they are our betters and deserve everything including whatever he can steal from working class and poor.

And no, no dementia. Just poor reading ability.

A lot of people, probably most people, cannot read brand new text (something they haven't seen before) fluidly or fluently. He might also be slightly dyslexic, which I understand as I often misread a word, then have to go back and look again because what I saw didn't make sense. However, if I'm going to read something out loud and I practice a bit, I'm just fine. Again, like most people.

But Trump is always operating on the assumption he's the smartest person in the room and doesn't need to pre-read anything. Hence the errors. Again, no need to invoke dementia as an explanation.

If nothing else, you do it in case there are words you could mispronounce if you don’t know they will be in the text. (Like the names of foreign leaders or nations.) If you don’t have the text ahead of time, you can slow down just a touch or if you make a mistake (which all of us do from time to time), pause and correct yourself.

As pointed out, tRump never wants to admit ANY mistake, no matter how small. He just arrogantly moves on as if he MEANT to say the incorrect word. Yea, that’s the ticket! I meant to say that. Never mind that it makes no sense in the context of what you said.

He seems a bit like a fourth grader who isn't quite up to fourth-grade level reading ability and reading out loud from the reading book, stumbling because he's just not very good at it.
