Facebook reminded me of a post from five years ago

If you think "fake news" is a purely recent concoction cooked up by our good friends in the Kremlin, here's what was going on five years ago in 2012:

Okay, so I saw this story that some volunteers were being turned away from the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. Specifically, non-union electricians from Alabama were allegedly told their assistance was neither acceptable nor appreciated.

Turns out it's not true. An absolute, out-and-out lie. Never happened. So I did a little Google search (You can do it yourself. Enter "non-union electricians turned away" into Google and see.) to find out who would promulgate such a despicable lie, one that only hurts recovery efforts and turns people against each other in a time when we need to pull together.

Go ahead. Google it. And try not to be surprised about who's playing politics when people's lives are on the line. If you don't feel like doing it, I'll tell you: Glenn Beck, The Blaze and Michelle Malkin to name three. Shame on each and every one of them, and every sponsor that supports their garbage.

So, yeah, nothing new under the sun.

"OK, Rose Valley is rich, therefore Republican. I arrived at 'The Old Mill' to see 4 well and warmly dressed Pubs ganging the door to the polling place, and, a bit further away, an African American young woman, maybe 15 yrs old & 90 pounds, shivering in the cold and asking 'Please vote for my Mom, Gail Collins.' I sure did."
