(14,627 posts)and the panel probably had to ask each question 6 ways to Sunday, which explains the 6 plus-hour session. We won't get the transcript for 3 days. I'm gonna' have to start drinking now!

(7,358 posts)they would rather get help from Russia .. which is odd because people of that ilk were always staunch anti-Communits, anti-Socialists. Not that Russia is a Communist State anymore, more like an Oligarch of a few billionaires, like Putin who are running the country. This is what the Oligarchs have in mind for the U.S. Just sayin. Sessions is just a lap dog.

(1,660 posts)that a commentator-who-shall-remain-nameless said Page took to pass on a recording of Trump asking for Putin's help in the election?
Sources with links to the intelligence community say it is believed that Carter Page went to Moscow in early July carrying with him a pre-recorded tape of Donald Trump offering to change American policy if he were to be elected, to make it more favorable to Putin. In exchange, Page was authorized directly by Trump to request the help of the Russian government in hacking the election.

(1,660 posts)Former Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page privately testified that he mentioned to now Attorney General Jeff Sessions he was traveling to Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign.
July, 2016. This nails Sessions for perjury, and saws (quite?) a bit deeper into the branch Trump is clinging to.

(590 posts)I was very excited until I read the CNN article. I hope it continues the drip drip drip vs Sessions but it isn't that exciting when you read the details.

(31,234 posts)signaled a while back that he was pissed with Sessions for his recusal. My question is...if Sessions leaves, and Trump gets to appoint Christie or Guiliani, what becomes of the Russia investigation?

(10,272 posts)If Trump were to execute the Saturday Night Massacre 2.0, and the elected GOP didn't attempt to impeach him for it, they would be looking at Dem Majorities in BOTH houses come next fall and they know it. Impeach and keep your seat, or don't, LOSE your seat, and then watch Impeachment happen anyway when Dems do it in january.
If it comes to that they'll put Trump in prison FOR us, mark my words.

(31,234 posts)but I'd love for Rachel to bring on an expert so we know where we stand if Sessions is booted out. As for the GOP Congress, I really don't believe they're thinking past "tax cuts" right now. There's no way their base will allow them to impeach, and with the current turmoil among Dems, I'm not as convinced as everyone else that we'll take back Congress. I hope I'm wrong on all counts, but with Russian trolls & turncoats, I'm hopeful that we can pull ourselves together in time for 2018.

(6,709 posts)and the fact that tRump is afraid of him doesn't qualify. Technically.
Of course a new-hire minion/AG would probably have willingness-to-fire-Mueller as a job qualification, but as more and more criminality emerges 1) who would be willing to step into that job?; and 2) the Senate will become less and less likely to confirm said minion (it would only take a couple of R defections). So that will leave it in the hands of Deputy AG Rosenstein...who appointed Mueller in the first place.
imo tRump, he be fucked.
