Sen. McConnell was asked about multiple bills that would protect the special counsel from interference from President Donald Trump during an interview with MSNBC anchor Hugh Hewitt that was broadcast Saturday.
This is also a week of indictments, Hewitt noted. There are two views about Mr. Mueller. Some want legislation to restrain his power and limit his reach. Others want legislation to keep him safe from being fired.
Do you think Congress has any role in legislating about the special counsel right now? Hewitt asked.
I dont think so, McConnell answered.

(37,364 posts)as long as no bill in either direction is passed, Congress is not interfering with the process and that's the best. The dumb caucus of the GOP will introduce bills to get rid of Mueller, because, well, they're idiots, the Democrats will counter, but as long as nothing happens, it's best. So Turtle McFucklips is correct. At the moment.
I'm sure Mueller and his clever and competent assistants foresaw this possibility. By casting a wide net instead of going for the quick glamor shot, they protect themselves. If they get shut down, what's to prevent them from leaking what they have immediately? Right now people can line themselves up to stay out of jail by cooperating. If the investigation gets shut down, it can be reopened in the future and the circumstances then may be such that the quality of mercy will be in short supply.
This is a lot different than Watergate and the Election theft of 2000.
"But that's, just like my opinion, man."

(16,937 posts)While I'm sure McTurtle would LOVE to be rid of IQ45, he can't be seen as the person encouraging or supporting it.
With this latest "line" he's seeming to support IQ45, but not gonna' get in the way of the investigations.
I can't see how anything less than a S**TSTORM would follow a firing of Mueller - and you can be sure that McTurtle and Munster Ryan do not want that!
