the country are going to have to ask themselves when they vote for sheriffs etc is "Will this person be able to handle the duty of informing the public adequately after a mass shooting in our area?"
because that "you can help with your prayers and money" and no real info presser was the worst.

The Texas Rangers there didn't even say anything!

(146,317 posts)In general, there are no educational requirements nor law enforcement experience requirements to run for that office. That's one of the flaws of the position of County Sheriff in most places. It's a position that people get elected to.
That flaw can lead to some very unfortunate situations.
