of a whale on the beach. It smells awful and is hard to clean up. Today marks the day when the toxic site remediation begins. I don't envy the job Phil Murphy has in front of him but I'm grateful he's here to take it on. It's hard to believe that there was a time when it looked like Christie was a shoe-in for the republican nomination for president. We stepped out of the way of that oncoming truck only to be flattened by the drunken maniac driving in the next lane. Rebuilding New Jersey will be good practice for rebuilding the country after Trump is gone. The latest polls show Murphy up by 14% but the actual margin will be larger. Democrats are fielding candidates in traditional republican areas where republicans ususally run unopposed and democratic voters are motivated to turn out. That will keep the margins for Guadagno down in the conservative counties. I don't think the polls account for that. Christie's nasty smelly carcass will be around for another two months but it's good to know somebody's coming to get rid of this mess.

(13,305 posts)....but I don't anticipate that he's going to be able to "rebuild" NJ. Too much other disarray going on and so many of our issues are structural and ingrained in our political DNA. But at this point the focus should only be on washing off the Christie stink in every way possible.
