I'm glad you asked! . I am part of an organization called "Flippable". I'm in solid blue MD so we have been working our asses off in VA.
IF YOU LIVE IN A BLUE STATE YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE. GET OFF YOUR ASS, JOIN FLIPPABLE, AND TURN THOSE RED STATES BLUE.

(12,448 posts)I live in MD also and I just joined. I did some GOTV work in VA but I'm glad to see an organization that's dedicated to flipping.

(1,369 posts)My sister, a Democrat, lives in a very red county and has had to keep her thoughts to herself for years. I am happy to say that she is speaking up now in spite of the fact that most of her friends and many family members are Repubs.

(2,312 posts)Iowa's 1st District is flippable. It's gone back and forth between red and blue in the last couple of decades.
Iowa's 2nd District is solid blue.
Iowa's 3rd District is flippable. It was solid blue for so long until the 2011 redistricting.
Iowa 4th District. Steve F*cking King. Ugh.

(1,765 posts)We need a really robust GOTV effort. I am super excited about Beto's campaign against Ted Cruz. Ever since March he has been going on a county to county tour of every county in the state. He has already out raised more funds than Cruz from grassroots supporters. As he stated Texas is not a red state it is a "non-voter" state. Texas is very flippable.
And for the Texas Senate my district has an AMAZING candidate. He is a Bronze Star veteran who served two combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He has a lot of targets on his back from the group in Dripping Springs that started the whole bathroom bill issue in Texas. He stood up for the victims family in Dripping Springs and spoke on behalf of the initial bullied victim's family in that area since they were receiving threats. He does not back down to any bullies of any kind and in general is just an amazing person. I hope that he can get some needed outside attention and support to help flip this district.

(4,450 posts)It's bad- we've voted for Scott Walker three times in a row and he looks like he's going to win a fourth election very easily. We went for Trump. We kicked Russ Feingold out of the Senate and replaced him with Ron Johnson- then re-elected Johnson.
BUT...not all that long ago we sent the first out lesbian (Tammy Baldwin) to the Senate, and she's up for re-election in '18. We went Dukakis-Clinton-Clinton-Gore-Kerry-Obama-Obama in Presidential elections before falling headlong into TRUMP-ism. So maybe we're not TOO far gone? Yet?

(13,587 posts)elect another democrat to Congress in my district. We got one in in 2008. Walt Minnick. Then the idiot runs like a republican in 2012, even bragging about voting against Obamacare! I wanted to kick his ass for that and the vote! I couldn't believe it when I heard his ads.
There was nothing he could say that would get republicans to vote for him and let us keep that seat. They wanted a real republican. All he did was sabotage himself with democratic voters. I really hope a good woman candidate is inspired to run this time.

(1,296 posts)Since gerrymandering depends on winning many races by a little rather than a few by a lot, the whole thing can break down all at once if there's a swing in votes larger than the margin they gerrymandered for.
