IIRC, Joseph the "adult carpenter" was just the stepdad in that family.

also the bible doesn't say how how old either Mary or Joseph were, but tradition says Mary was about 18 which would be above the age of consent today.

Terrible defense for a religious fanatic who is a professing Christian to try and make. Denial of the virgin birth is considered blasphemous by most Christians.
