20 years of FoxNews, a decade of right wing websites have created the candidacies/elections of Trump and Moore.
These deplorables have been brainwashed that libtards are evil and as long as you have an R next to your name u are getting their vote.
They have taken over the US Congress, State legislators, and the Executive offices. Now these crazies are getting lifetime appointments to the judicial and that is scary.

(6,916 posts)Most trump voters and supporters are simply propagandized individuals who have been falsely taught to hate Democrats at all costs.
If we want to heal America, we must stop this propaganda.
Remember whos at fault: Limbaugh. Ailes. Murdoch. Reagan. Bannon. Conway. Ingraham. Hannity. Clear channel CEOs.
Via lies and propaganda those people are destroying America.

(6,916 posts)It worked for China.
It worked for Chavez and Putin.
It was bad enough when it was just billionaires propagandizing America to get votes for their own tax cuts. Then Putin jumped into America propaganda.
Best way to improve this - tell all your friends that its unpatriotic to watch Fox and Limbaugh - because those outlets are lies told by billionaires to get votes to screw the average American.

Much like the Johnston Amendment was not intended to restrict political activity by religion but to protect religion from political activity's corrosive force.

(36,478 posts)We are in a seriously dangerous place & I don't know if most people realize it.
Fox News is the evil spawn of hate radio. Until we address hate radio, not much will change. These people will either, 1) continue to vote repub, in spite of evidence that their lives aren't improving, 2) vote third party, or 3) not vote at all. They've had 30 years of conditioning to hate liberals & democrats, & blame minorities & uppity women for their plot in life. I have rwnj cousins that wouldn't vote dem if Satan were the only other choice. They will listen to Limbaugh excuse Moore & vote for him over Jones, even though Jones is a decent man & Moore is a monster. The hate runs that deep & the dems have ignored it for decades. I don't know what level of exposure will be needed, to wake these people up, or if there is any level possible. There just seems to always be 1/3 of the human population that has their head stuck up their ass.

(62,423 posts)from radio, TV and newspapers with no counter message, it is real easy to take those messages as being right and truthful.
If there were a competing message easily available they wouldn't have nearly the power. But the extreme right owns almost all the media except the internet and they will be closing that hole in January.
You can blame the customer, but our society has been set up to sell them only one side of an issue.
Frankly I continue to be amazed the left exists at all in this country.

(6,916 posts)Every human is susceptible to propaganda. Every autocrat from Chavez to Putin to Erdogan to Hitler to Xi in China today controls the media. Why? Because any population can be controlled with propaganda. Thats why Bannon and trump are trying to control and discredit the media.
Why are some humans more susceptible than others? A lot has to do with political engagement and travel. If you are heavily engaged with politics and read and travel widely, you get a wide range of views and can recognize propaganda. If you mostly just live your life and arent that politically engaged, you can get drawn into lies.

Could not believe what I was hearing, and could not believe people were swallowing it. Lived in West Texas at the time (Midland) which was Republican in Texas before that was cool. Keep in mind also that Paul Harvey had been speaking to this audience -- mostly rural but certainly conservative -- for decades already by this time.

"So God Made a Farmer" was first spoken in 1978 (the Carter era) and revived in a Super Bowl ad for Ram trucks in 2013. How many Democrats did you see praise it and sharing it here and on social media?
There is of course nothing wrong with praising farmers and farming, but there is a little something askew about constructing religious dogma around it, and using the mashup of the two to sell pickup trucks to folks in the bucolic countryside smacks of some savvy Madison Avenue manipulation. Almost five years ago, as Obama had just finished punking Mitt Romney, I would hazard a guess that about 80% of those in that target market had voted a straight Republican ticket.
"Maybe God did make farmers, but why'd Dodge only show us the white ones?"
Anyway ... all of this was, in the '80s and '90s, reinforcing the shift of Reagan Democrats to the GOP. Fox didn't get going until 1996, nearly ten years later, but that slammed the door shut on a lot of minds.

(675 posts)Once we regain power the first order of the day is to march off limpballs and the rest of the white trash fascists on right wing radio to prison. They define enemies foreign and domestic that ALL office holders vow to protect us from.
These liars need to be silenced, they have steered our country into the crisis we are now facing.
We are on the verge of ww3, climate chaos, economic ruin and the loss of our democracy forever.
It's going to be ugly but remember, we are on the right side of history, if we won't stand up to treason who will?

Fortunately the vote numbers couldn't be hacked in 2008 & 2012 or those elections might be on the list of things that should have seriously been challenged. Now, the GOP has their boot on our neck.
Last week's election gave me a little hope, but overall, the damage that Trump is doing is substantial. It's going to take a long time to come back from this. That's assuming the next person in that office even wants to.
