So let me get this straight. When Roy Moore, age 30, was young and full of sex drive he could "date" 10 - 17 year old girls, take their clothing off and do other sexual things he wanted to do with them, but not be labeled a pedophile? What else do you call this behavior then?

pedophile is for under 11.

In practice, people tend to lump all these together under "pedophile" because there doesn't appear to be a good collective for these.

The 14-year old was probably below the age of consent so that would be statutory rape or aggravated assault or something like that.

Above the age of consent the law doesn't care. If they gave consent, a 90-year old can date or even marry an 18-year old.

Of course, if the didn't give consent that would be rape or aggravated assault, but again it wouldn't matter whether the victim was 18 or 81, legally speaking.

have different laws the younger the child. IE 14 might be one crime, 10 maybe another.
