But then that is how guys like him work. He even tried to appear helpful and empathetic to her mother so her guard would be down. Look for weakness, exploit authority, offer kindness, take what they want, and leave the rest.

But that how's these sociopaths get away with this behavior. They have a veneer projecting a stellar moral character and often are seen as great with children. All the while they are assessing which kids will be vulnerable and/or open to their advances. Usually no one suspects a thing and wouldn't believe it even if they did.
