I feel that the people who support him view him as a sort of example of human sinfulness that God can and does forgive. Therefore, they themselves can be forgiven. My theory supposes that they identify with the sinner, rather than the accuser, because the sinner will be forgiven and given the grace of God.

It's a rather bent view of Christian theology but that is my view.

his opponent, Jones, is an evil man. He is evil because he supports abortion.

I guess it is not evil to molest little girls.

I didn't say it was right or sane and I certainly don't think it s allowable but my theory still remains that it is the only one that I can entertain with my rational mind...

They and only they are salvagable because of their Christian faith. They know they've been "bad" but they can be forgiven by Christ and the unrepentant "other" cannot.

I know it is a twisted logic but I think it is correct.

Just my two cents here.

I am not professionally competent to make such a declarative statement. But in my judgement, I think something is really wrong with them. I would call it a form of religious fanaticism.

12. He could have murdered someone, and he would still have the same support. It's tribalism.

There is a prevailing idea in the US now that the only thing that matters is if your political party wins. They may use whatever means possible to win, be they legal or illegal. The ends justify the means. The quality of candidates doesn't matter.

I believe that murder and terrorism would also be justified by the tribalists. Outright treason against the US has already been excused and encouraged.

And not only do they own the media they rule it with an iron fist. So naturally they're afraid when one of their own gets caught with their pants down. Especially with a crucial election in the balance and their billionaire owners demanding a return on their investment.
