Because, any Republican that would replace him would probably be just as strong or stronger than Moore?
For purely political reasons, we should want for Moore to run. If the Democrats could not beat a crazy pedophile, then who is to say they would win against another Republican replacement?
However, Democrats should request that he resign for moral and principled reasons.
But, in the final analysis, it looks like the people of Alabama are going to have to decide who they want to represent them?

(5,737 posts)The guy won't drop out and he will win by at least 10 percentage points, and maybe 20. Alabama is full of people that are to stupid to know any better. They have voted against their own best interest since forever. Nothing indicates that they will change now. And this all makes me sick.

(16,104 posts)Then it would just be a matter of turning out more Democrats than there are Republicans in Alabama who can write - and I LIKE those odds!
The state flag even includes the state signature!

(12,344 posts)Even if Trump had lost, his campaign alone would have degraded our politics. Moore's running is just the same. Winning is even worse. It would show that the lowest of the low can still win an election. Better he quits now and stays far away from public office. But he won't quit, and if he wins, our politics will sink even lower than it is now.
