Orwell's "1984" merits a Re-Read today....

A classic novel that indeed merits a re-read today, as it applies to the events of the past year as it relates to Donald Trump's attraction to Authoritarianism, Absolute Power, and the Adulation that he craves so badly.

Donald Trump, if anyone is paying attention, presents a clear and present danger to this country and to the world. His job approval numbers are sinking to the low 30's almost a year into his term. The LOWEST in history many pundits on both sides of the aisle say.

Donald Trump has personally attacked War heroes, personally attacked Gold Star Families, attacked the Press, attacked members of his Cabinet, attacked a Religion and people he knows nothing about, called for locking up Political rivals, insulted other world leaders for their pragmatism, violates daily the US Constitution (the Emoluments Clause), all to please his ever shrinking base. His administration is filled with incompetents and important positions remain unfilled because "I am all that matters."

Yes indeed. "1984" merits another reread in this dark time in our Nation's history. The threat of absolute power and Big Brother controlling our every move and thought should awaken all Americans from the complacency they may have fallen into.

“All animals are equal” becomes “some animal are more equal than others.”
The twisting of ideals into political propaganda is especially relevant.
I think of the sheep in that novel bleating out what the latest slogan to farm as Trump supporters.
Orwell wrote it as a satire about Stalinist Russian and Putin is Trump ‘s idol.
Animal Farm is the blueprint for how you get to 1984.
We are witnessing that blueprint every day now.
