(804 posts)and hopefully indicative of a national backlash against the Republican party. This is amazing, especially in the red state of Oklahoma.

I like how it's a major news headline to be married to a woman. We have several married gay politicians in more liberal areas of the country.

I haven't gotten a email yet from the DLCC asking for money bragging about another big victory.

I wish you to flip as much seats as you can from red to blue.
Is Oklahoma traditionally a red state or is it a state where Republicans and Democrats are governing alternatively ?

(13,081 posts)Maybe even especially in Oklahoma. My mother lives in a deep red state and just stopped voting. After Trump Ive been harping on her.
If you vote, youre probably going to lose. If you dont vote, youre DEFINITELY going to lose.
Personally, I think thats the number one reason Hillary lost the blue wall states. Too many people figured Oh, look at the polls. My vote wont even matter.

Equality and all that, no?

(30,481 posts)Congratulations to Allison Ikley-Freeman on her victory in her state Senate race, which flipped one more Republican-held seat from red to blue, a district that Trump carried just last year. At 26, Ikley-Freeman becomes the third openly gay person to be elected to the Oklahoma legislature. As we saw earlier this year, Oklahomans are voting for Democrats in these deep-red districts because they know our candidates will work to resolve the budget crisis facing Oklahomans and help build an economy that works for every working family, not just a wealthy few. Tonights results have once again added to our growing streak of victories from last week and over the summer. But this is just the beginning. The DNC is proud to have invested in this race and we will continue working with the Oklahoma Democratic Party to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

(41,832 posts)THis young woman is a phenom. She knows how to organize, to act local and use Facebook and other social media. She is big on door to door and getting out activists to talk about our candidates.
Shining example as to why we need more young people in leadership roles.

(155 posts)Hopefully, Doug Jones (D-AL) will be able to do the same. The key is staying local it seems.
