The pro gun crowd doesn't want it promoted because it was a mass shooting

The gun control crowd doesn't want it promoted because the guy was out on bail after stabbing his neighbors, had been reported recently to the police as a threat, and under current CA law should not have been able to acquire or still have guns. It's an example of current controls failing due to extremely poor execution, which doesn't help the case for more controls.
