(59,592 posts)This is Mrs. Hatrack, hijacking Hatrack's DU account.
Please don't give up hope. I saw a post you wrote a few weeks ago where you were very discouraged and planning on disconnecting for a while.
I just want you to hang in there, because you are usually relatively optimistic, even amidst the shit, and your positivity inspires others, including me. A few months ago you wrote a lovely post about how you and your wife were coping with the current madness in our country by making sure to enjoy the simple things in life like your cats, and good craft beer, and your wife knitting or sewing or engaging in some activity I wish I had the skill for, and the simple pleasures of the time you were spending together. That gave me encouragement at a time when I needed it.
Your Chicken Posole recipe, which I found on the Cooking and Baking forum a few years ago, has become one of our favorites. And we love your posts in the Gardening forum as well. They inspire us to continue our efforts at growing our own food, especially heirloom tomatoes, your specialty.
I just want you to know that your posts, which often are hopeful (although less so during the past year), inspire others.
I recently came across a video on You Tube of Jackson Browne accepting a public service award. He spoke about the importance of "being there for each other." The link to Jackson Browne's acceptance speech is here:
I don't know you, but you are a key part of the DU community that is part of being here for each other, especially now. Hang in there - we need you.

(60,019 posts)I want to say more, but it is late, I am tired, and can't find the appropriate words.
But what you say is very important - for all of us with high regard for truth, decency, kindness and inclusion.
Again - thanks! You brought a smile to the end of my day...
