And oh yeah, since we have been shown data on harassment payouts from congress on a year by year basis then EVERY complaint after the date of Franken's supposed transgression must be released to the public and examined by the ethics committee-I'm betting several Democrats show up, but I'm liking our chances.

(3,363 posts)We've been shown that congress paid millions to hush up bad behavior. If you want transparency let's have REAL fucking transparency.
question everything
(47,534 posts)So either we are concerned about what happened before someone took office or we do not.
Of course, as we've seen, grabbing women by their genitals did not bother Trump voters..
I do admire Franken for not trying to hide but to own his actions.

(9,696 posts)plus moore had a history of defending child molesters when he was a judge. His actions happened while he was in an official capacity. Also, being banned from a mall is pretty serious, there would have had to been complaints from a lot of people.
Otherwise, I would tend to agree that something that happened 20 or 30 years ago before someone was in office would not immediately make them subject to resignation. A lot of people do stupid stuff (and I'm not just talking about Frankin), some people learn from it and move on, some don't. Expecting everyone who ever runs for office to have lead a perfect life is not realistic.

flotsam
(3,268 posts)So anyone in congress implicated in a similar or worse way should receive a more severe punishment than anything that happens to Franken.
