Add to that Stone knowing ahead of time this was coming.
Add to that the woman's close relationship with the likes of Hannity.
The difficulty with all of this is how to refute any of this based on things other than the alleged acts of Franken.

(65 posts)an ethics investigation. I'd like Franken to take this all the way. He may file a lawsuit.

(61,698 posts)Franken has this one-only incident of poor behavior, and even that was before he considered a run for senate. I want him, with his honesty and apology, to come out looking cleaner than any other politician, and to make DOTUS look like the heathen he is.

(13,620 posts)I'd love to see a video of the skit if it exists. I see one pic of them with mics evidently during it. I'd especially like to see the kiss in the skit and see how that went. Did she make it a nice one and seem to have fun with it? She could have put the kibosh on that altogether.

(3,586 posts)it seems like this would have come out then... especially if Hannity knew of it "years ago."

(14,920 posts)that he opposed the Iraq War to try to help Trump weasel out of his obvious hypocrisy, on-the-record support, and inconsistency on the subject.
https://newrepublic.com/minutes/137249/last-night-donald-trump-boy-cried-hannity
"Last night, Donald Trump was the boy who cried Hannity.
Pressed repeatedly by Hillary Clinton and moderator Lester Holt about his claim that he opposed the Iraq Warhe supported itTrump sputtered. Pushed into a corner by Clinton and Holt, he turned to Sean Hannity, the Fox News host and unofficial Trump surrogate, for backup. Sean Hannity said very strongly, to me and other people, hes willing to say, but nobody wants to call him, I was against the war. He said, You used to have fights with me, because Sean was in favor of the war. Over the course of his rambling answer, Trump said Hannitys name four times.
Hannity, of course, backed Trump up because Hannity is not a journalist. (In fairness to Hannity, he does not claim that hes a journalist.)
Trump: As you know, I used your name today because you and I used to argue over the war before the war.
Hannity: I thought you forgot!
Trump: This was before the war! I dont forget.
Hannity: You used to [call me]. You know how many times we had conversations?
Trump: Numerous times.
Hannity: And you told me I was wrong, in fairness for those people who are asking me in the media you did tell me over and over again that I was wrong.
Trump: [big smile]
But there is, of course, a problem. Hannity, like Trump, has no actual evidence that Trump opposed the Iraq War. (Evidence that he supported the war exists, however.) Journalist Robert Draper took Trumps advice and called Hannity:
Its hard to believe that Trump and Hannity would let these conversations be private, given the political climate in 2003, especially on Fox and right-wing radio. Anyone who opposed the war was being excoriated as a traitor (and Hannity keeping Trumps Iraq War opposition private at the least seems like bad radio).
On the flip side, if Trump had gone on Hannitys show, as Hannity has claimed, and expressed opposition to the Iraq War, its highly likely that another record of this conversation would exist. Finally, Trump is not exactly known for keeping attention-grabbing opinions secret, and in early 2003 opposing the Iraq War was as attention-grabbing as it gets.
The case of Donald Trump and the Iraq War is pretty simple. On the one hand, before the invasionwhen it matteredTrump told Howard Stern that he was in favor of the war. On the other, you can take Donald Trump and Sean Hannitys word that he vehemently opposed it. Ill leave it at that."

(28,272 posts)Franken is handling this matter as he should: an expression of sincere regret, and a statement of willingness to aid in an investigation. A censure vote from the Senate would be more than enough punishment---that's a lot more than trump is ever going to face, for far-worse actions.

(68,667 posts)knew about it...so for all who try to screw Democrats with this shit or demanded Franken's resignation ...fuck you. Oh and Sen. Gillibrand...you showed little loyalty and helped put the screws to Sen. Franken...with your breathless, 'I believe the accuser'.with no evidence at all...complete lack of judgment. These comments show you are not presidential material. If it were not such a dire year for Dems in the Senate...and yet we still have a chance, I would recommend primarying you but not this year with a possible Senate majority on the horizon.
