Why Jake Tapper Is Angry

November 18, 2017 at 12:44 pm EST By Taegan Goddard

Jake Tapper explains why he’s often so agitated on his CNN show:

“I recognize that it’s probably a pain in the ass for a lot of people now,” he told The Atlantic. “But it is just who I am.”

“I’m just like, I don’t want any of this to be happening,” he added. “There are so many lies and so much indecency, and I’m not only talking about President Trump. There is just a world of it exploding—and we are, I fear, as a nation, becoming conditioned and accepting of it. And it’s horrific.”

Howard Beale from the classic film, "Network" comes to mind here. Jake Tapper is "Mad as hell, and I am not going to take it anymore."

He always looks like he either cannot believe what he has to report about or that he cannot believe what is needing to say. As he said, he looks just like he says he feels. I don't think that is bad. I see a lot of them like that these days. I find a little tiny bit of encouragement when they are not smacking their heads and chuckling but being serious and looking kinda shell shocked. For too long most of them seemed too impressed with themselves and too "for the camera" auditioning for something bigger. Not Jake. Interesting that he would talk about it.

Ornstein and Mann identified the real problem years ago. It is the Republicans. And, I would add, Republican voters.

"not just President Trump" in my mind would include Sessions, pretty much everyone in the White House, people like Ryan Zinke, Tom Pruitt, Betsy DeVos -- on and on and on.

He seems pretty incredulous at times with what he is reporting.

Normalization, gaslighting, false equivalence. So why is Jake so upset with it now, finally? Obama was hamstrung consistently for 8 years and the media seemed to, for the most part, not to mind.
