Bruce Bartlett On Tax Plan: Why Aren't People Marching In The Streets?

Joy Reid kicked off this segment today with a bit of pointed snark.

"Paul Ryan inched closer to his long time dream of reshaping the federal government in the image of an Ayn Rand novel. It was the House's most significant vote since the Obamacare repeal in May, which ultimately failed in Senate," she said.

Reid reminded viewers that the tax plan "is taking money from the poor to give to the richest."

"Joining me is Bruce Bartlett. (Bartlett was one of Ronald Reagan's supply-side economic advisers.) Bruce, we were on Lawrence O'Donnell's show the other night when he said this was the most draconian tax increase on ordinary Americans and the biggest tax cut on the rich ever in history. Do you agree with that assessment?"

"That's exactly correct. Certainly there have been large tax increases on everyday Americans, especially during World War II," he said.

"But at the same time taxes were increased even more on the wealthy. There's never been a tax cut in American history in which taxes were raised on the poor to benefit the wealthy. In fact, I don't know of any other country that has done anything remotely like this," he said.

The average American cannot understand the world of hurt coming their way under this tax plan. Hence, no street demonstrations.

The GOP has successfully destroyed truth in news.

Turns out that the Times and Post really are right, and they really are honest.

They don't want to hear anything more about Trump or politics. They were all fired up after the election & inauguration. They went to the woman's march & the science march & to parties where they filled out postcards to Paul Ryan. Now? Not so much.

They would have to tell the kids we are living in a car because daddy & mommy protested the government tax plan then were fired. In a capitalist economy the 1% are the dictators.

And it didn't prevent this.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what makes Bruce Bartlett think that the people writing this bill care about demonstrations?

Is Bruce Bartlett organizing anything himself? I mean, he was one of those that helped create this fucking monster.

I was watching AM JOY. I noticed the exact same sentence and heard it last night from a guest on Richard Engel's show about the moron and his corrupt business ties, money laundering and the Emoluments Clause. We are apathetic and letting the GOP do this to us and our country.
RESIST!!!!!! Be loud and strong. DO SOMETHING PEOPLE! Do it now and do not wait for Mueller and 2018 midterms. Our taxes and healthcare are on the line...wake up!

The problem is that the fucking moron signed an exec order to kill the ACA. We have to DELAY the vote in the Senate. That is why they are pushing it through so fast. They do not want the same thing to happen with the Tax Scam that happened with the ACA repeal efforts.

Some people work all day with no opportunity to fool around on a computer.

When they get home, the kids are doing "homework" on the computer, if the family owns a computer.

By the time dishes are washed, it's about time for bed...
