Okay. Let's have some apologies.

Al was big enough to apologize when he wasn't quite sure what he might have done, but he never thought a woman would sell out other women by lying her ass off to accuse him if she didn't feel really hurt. But she did lie. She screwed women by showing that at least one republican woman would lie about abuse. We now know she lied about how she was offended by the lewdness and about the timeline of the photo.

Now will the jerks in congress who were excoriating Al apologize - both to Al and to the public?

And will we see any of the journalists who demanded a resignation - before there was any chance for rebuttal or research into the veracity of a corporate, faux-backed mouthpiece for the republican party? Marcotte?

And some of the threads on DU? Hmmmm? Anybody willing to admit to being snowed and duped? Let's see.

When it first broke, my heart sank. Then the apologies came. Then the pile on. Then doubts crept in and you wonder if it's because of the way you feel about Al Franken and if your letting politics make excuses. And now the story changes and it looks like this was a con and that this woman is full of shit and putting on a big act. It all has me angry and upset. I have no doubt Joy is going to be all over this tomorrow. And Monday instead of talking about the evil tax bill, it is going to be about Leeann and her bullshit fakery, which is actually going to hurt women. I also hope Michelle Goldberg has to write a big apology for her asinine column in the New York Times from yesterday.

Obviously, he didn't consent to this sexual assault!

Or... maybe it's NOT sexual assault because he's awake.

Or... maybe it's NOT sexual assault because he's a white male, and white males cannot, by definition, be victimized.

Or maybe, perhaps, a bunch of entertainers on a tour together get close and comfortable with eachother and just joke around like this, or like in Al & Tweeden's photo.

So... Folks gotta pick one, or ditch the double standard. If Tweeden is embarrassed by this now, just like Al was embarrassed by the other photo, then fine. But for the point-impaired: Sure, the guitar player didn't "consent," but then this isn't sexual assault. And neither was Al's fake grab to Tweeden's flak jacket.

But if it's not sexual assault, what is it? I agree this smells like a Republican counter-move to the very real Trump/Moore scandals, because if there's ANYthing the mass media can be counted on for, it's pandering to the right wing when it cooks up a "scandal" and cries foul.

Contrasted to Al Franken's virtue and intelligence. The Republican party is made of criminals - pedophiles, rapists, thieves, liars, mobsters. The Russian Mafia and the GOP - what more needs to be said?

Except Al Franken is a virtuous and intelligent person who cares about and respects people. He is not perfect, but nothing about this bullshit casts any doubt on him being a moral and outstanding person. Respectable and intelligent. No wonder Republicans hate and fear him.

assume she was not honestly put out by it when she saw the picture. Seems like it was a dynamic entertainment situation where some hot women and musicians and comedians were invited to cheer up the troops with their antics. Makes a difference the context. Yes it does. Seems Franken got caught up in it. So did she obviously.

I kept my mouth shut on the chance my gut was wrong, and because Al was doing the right thing regardless. But now I’m pissed. Not just for Al, but for every woman who really has been assaulted or harassed and will have to fight against another kernel of doubt sewn by the actions of this one woman.

it would show the Democratic Party is strong in their beliefs, yada, yada, yada. I disagree and I can sum it up in 2 words: David Vitter. What Vitter did was a million times worse than this and he pretty much said "fuck you" to his critics and the GOP stood behind him. Not only was Vitter elected again, the whole Republican Party has gained seats across the country and even put a moron in the White House. Why? They don't wimp out. No one went on television and went boohoo, Dave has to go. Democrats need to be strong and support Franken because a lousy joke is not the same as wearing diapers at your hooker's place.
