Fox News defends Sean Hannity amid calls for ad boycott

Fox News is standing by host Sean Hannity amid an advertiser boycott campaign.

The network on Sunday denounced a petition that is calling on advertisers to ditch Hannity's show as an "intimidation effort" that is "nothing more than political opportunism based on deceit."

The petition was created by Media Matters for America, a liberal press watchdog group. Media Matters argues that Hannity's show is essentially "a Trump propaganda operation."

Sunday's statement was the first time that Fox News has commented on the boycott effort.

"Sean Hannity hosts the number one program in cable news because millions of Americans make the decision to join him every night and the audience relationship is stronger than ever," said a Fox News spokesperson. When asked specifically about advertisers, however, the network would not comment.

They’re trying to nip it in the bud. They recognize how it affected O’Reilly’s show.

Excuse me, but doesn't that accurately define the Fox News Network along with every other outlet owned by Rupert Murdoch?

These folks don't even do psychological projection well anymore!

I suppose if the shoe was on the other foot, and someone Fox didn't like was losing advertisers, they'd have the same position.

Nope, couldn't type that without cracking up.

Well actually I worked at their competitor Arbitron radio ratings. They are now owned by Nielsen. They are very independent and really do produce good, solid research.

The Nielsen family members were on the verge of selling do to some stupid investment strategy they adopted and a sale was proposed. A group of wealthy Brits came to the rescue and the rest in now History.

Now there down to their last high rated show and have Bannon chomping at the bit to form his own "conservative" channel to challenge them. They created this Frankenstein...and now its about to turn against its creator. They went full blown right wing when it gave them the ratings they wanted because they viewers couldn't think for themselves or just wanted their fears validated. In the process, they lost everyone else, but who cares? It still made them the number one watched "news" network.

But now...as they say...the chickens have come home to roost. They thought they could ride this out over time as their viewership slowly died off, but, they never expected their work "culture" would be bad karma.
