I'd never want to move that fast any closer to the ground. I put more value on my life than to act like a damn fool.

I was at 130 mph when I shut it down. And my foot was not to the floor. That beast had 160 mph in it I'm sure but I never got close again, it scared the crap out of me when I thought about it afterwards. I hope my 12 year old doesn't see this.

Out in the Mojave Desert.

It wasn't mine, it was my brother's.

Favorite time as a kid, flying to Catalina Island in the seaplanes.

My grandma convinced the pilot to let me sit up front.

It would've have been about ten years before this...

We stopped in Honolulu and my dad went in the airport and brought me back a really sweet Coke and I drank it. I wasn't quite 4, and this is all I remember about that flight.

It was exhilarating but scary as I started to approach traffic.

You catch up with other cars a whole loot quicker than you're used to.

It was also the last vehicle I went over 120 mph in. I blew a tire at over 100 mph. Managed to control the car and get it to the side of the road undamaged. But it took over an hour for the tire to cool down enough for me to change it. Plus it took that long for me to stop shaking from the experience.

I was driving through the Green Swamp - if I had not been able to keep the car on the road, it probably would have flipped coming off the raised roadbed and landed upside down in the swamp. Serious "Come to Jesus" moment there.

Once I did 120 mph traveling from Roswell New Mexico to LA on a long stretch of road somewhere in Arizona. It was in a 1964 Lincoln Continental with a car full of cadets going home for Christmas. Didn't even realize I was going that fast.

Then, a fellow cadet took me to an abandoned Roswell airport in his 1973 Corvette. We ended up doing around 130 mph. Scared me to death.

Finally...i took my Porsche 914 down the Grapevine (central .CA, I-5). Got pulled over by the Highway Patrol. He said that he clocked me doing 96 mph.

I was young...

We spend the first half of our lives trying to kill ourselves...and the second half trying to stay alive.
