Russia borders on Alaska.

Remember?

I have wondered from the beginning of the Russia scandal whether this might be what it is really about -- exploiting fossil fuels in the Arctic region.

Lots of money to be made.

Lots of damage to the environment in a number of ways.

I'm asking a question, not promoting a theory. Others may know more about this than I do.

if the price was right. From what I've read, Putin thinks Alaska should be part of Russia anyway.
