To all my friends who have been criticized here for not being Democratic enough, liberal enough or progressive enough, who have consistently voted Democratic but somehow that isn't good enough, I hope the new year brings you an abundance of everything you need to make your life happy, comfortable and complete.
You are not alone here. Happy New Year! Now let's make sure the GOP is soundly defeated. GOBAMA!

(24,764 posts)I'm one of those Democrats--and DUers--who doesn't quite pass the liberal litmus test. I'm more socially conservative than most DUers, but nowhere near as conservative as teabaggers, yet I'm a flaming progressive when it comes to economic issues. I do tend to keep my views on social issues to myself for fear of being tombstoned.
For this, I take your "Happy New Year" to heart and thank you very much. Now let's do our part to get rid of the scum occupying government power and put Democrats in their place.

(2,286 posts)Frankly, I personally want to wish EVERYONE a fabulous new year. But unity seems in short supply these days. You think we could unite behind a common enemy. I'm not sure how Obama became the enemy. But, just as some have been determined to make Obama a one-termer, others are equally invested in crashing the system -- both with the promise that the outcome will somehow be better and no concern of all those who will suffer in the meantime.

(39,909 posts)Among these are:
*The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
*The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
*The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
*The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
*The right of every family to a decent home;
*The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
*The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
*The right to a good education.
All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being."
I'll stick with THAT. ^
Please note that these are listed as Human Rights, guaranteed by our Government Of the People,
and NOT commodities to be sold to Americans by For Profit vendors.
Cheers!
You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

(2,286 posts)I thought others may have felt left out.
As I stated previously, I think we should spend the next year working together and finding common ground. And, I wish everyone a great new year! Even those I don't like, but I think our definitions of great vary. My hope is that those planning to vote for GOP candidates or not vote at all see the light.
I would stand with you in the parking lot, but I don't expect the rest of the crowd to join us.
