(2,107 posts)It's just for shits and giggles, of course, but it's fun to print out a list of 142 names going from you back to a suppose-ed Adam. Mine is through the ancestor Muirchertach mac Gilla Comgaill O Tuathail.
I guess it's just 142 generations because some of those old farts are counted as living a really long time -- Methuselah, Noah, etc. The list is considered accurate to a point -- back to the year 350 or so, if I remember right. After that??? There was bound to be considerable pressure on royal genealogists of old to make things connect. They liked having heads on their shoulders.
