As I understand it... they can't get rid of the ACA financial support, they can only get rid of the requirement that you purchase insurance and the (fine/tax charged if you don't sign up).

Wouldn't that mean that the only people who lost their insurance would be people who didn't want it?

...however, without the tax penalty, young healthy people would opt out, meaning that insurance pools would be priced based on older, less healthy people, thus pushing up prices to the point where it would be unaffordable for some.

The mandates increased the amount of money available to pay for the care that came up for everyone, including people who hadn't been to the doctor in years and came in to the system with significant health problems.

When the mandate goes, so does that funding. Insurance companies will skyrocket their rates to compensate, people will drop out and start going to the ER again for all of their care, and YOU, my friend will pay dearly for all that.

They can say that they're just giving people a choice.

and YOU, my friend will pay dearly for all that.

Probably not. I've had the same insurance through my employer for decades... but I see your point.

Which will, of course, be passed on to you.

Make no mistake about it, the health care travesties ALONE in this bill will screw us all over full sore. People forget that there were a LOT of reasons that the ACA was passed, and it wasn't because "poor people just want free stuff".

Again... I get it in the general case, but we didn't have many healthy young employees that weren't in the insurance plan because if you were healthy and could prove it (annual check with a nurse), you actually had a negative premium (right... we pay you to be in the plan).

And there are others who will only support it if that is taken OUT of the bill.

Choices, choices. What's a bill writer to do?

Take that amount away which would uninsured approx. 10 - 13 million more people. I see that I helped pay for Paul's recent doctor's visits from the assault, and all I have to say is FUCK YOU.

I suppose trump asked a R to do it, not realizing it would turn into a poison pill. But the mandate amendment is brilliant! It'll tear them apart, hopefully.

He's not for either. He is going for something he wants not caring about the rest. He will have no victory when it comes to year end filings. Congress isn't with his ideology on this matter.
