Rudy Giuliani turns up in Ukraine with pro-Russia official linked to Paul Manaforts clients

Former Trump campaign surrogate Rudy Giuliani was seen this week in the Ukraine with a pro-Russia official who is linked to Ukrainian political clients of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort.

The Palmer Report was first to note on Monday that a news publication in the Ukraine had published photos of Giuliani in the company of Hennadiy Kernes, the mayor of Kharkiv and a friend of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

Yanukovych was a client of Manafort’s before he was forced to flee to President Vladimir Putin’s protection in Russia.

There is something strange going on here. They are trying to coordinate a cover story.........

I think you are right: they are coordinating their stories, figuring out who to throw under the bus, too.

Ukraine and the United States do not have an extradition treaty. Foreigners who commit serious crimes in Ukraine are, as a rule, tried and sentenced in Ukraine. However, both countries are signatories to the Council of Europe's Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons.

to expatriate himself to a country without extradition to US. Why was this supposed to be worth it to him?

to feel a bit of empathy for Senator Jeff Flake. If only, he had some influence with the dirtballs in his party.

Aside: Over the years, I believe Mr. Flake has served Arizona, unlike Rudy who serves only himself.

still in today's Ukraine? was this written pre or post coup, oops I meant to say pre or post "revolution" Ukraine? And we are to believe this whole Russiangate ideas and Trump was so pro Russia/Russian puppet, then why is he still fighting the Syrian govt (a Russian ally) in Syria? when is he going to start doing things that actually help Russia?. Don't get me wrong, i understand 3D chess and all but this one is yet to start making sense.

will do anything that someone convinces him helps him to win. Before the election, the fact that his team found there were Republicans out there offering to help him was met by him thinking it was fantastic. (I doubt he had more maturity, integrity or character than his son) After he won, he clearly thought he could do anything. He then designated Flynn as security advisor - even as he warned not to.

Then, he had to remove Flynn when it became clear he had no choice. He also would have been given the intelligence of Russian involvement in the hacking -- and he had to know that HIS campaign happily used the product of those hacks. He got caught with the Russian FM and others giving them secret information related to ISIS -- secret information that was not even OURS, but produced by Israel. He appointed Tillerson, who got a top award from Putin, and who personally fought the sanctions against Russia - something he was not honest about in his hearing.

So, why would he NOW being acting against Russia on Ukraine and Syria. At this point, anything that creates the narrative that he is standing up to Putin helps his supporters argue that the whole Russian puppet thing is nonsense. In fact, he is right that he is not a puppet. In 2016, he favored Russia because they were helping him and he also could spin it as against the US aggressiveness (as seen by RT etc) There were people arguing that he would be less hawkish than Barack Obama, where Clinton would be GWB like in her hawkness. (I suspect that that message was easier to craft using microtargeting of people for whom it would resonate - while not being heard by his Bannon fueled base.) Now, who does he favor -- anything that makes HIM the strong man. Trump is a narcissist who sees everything in terms of what it does for him. NOW, to do Russia's will means he is not the alpha male vis a vis Putin.

Your last question makes sense ONLY if you think that Trump was backed by Russia because they shared the same values and goals.

I can't believe we're still having this conversation in 2017.

Curious dismissal of the Russia-Trump connection, though.

would be next on Mueller's list. He was stupid enough to say on TV a few dys before the Wikileaks emails was brought up that we should expect something big in a few days. Mueller needs to question Stone over and over. Of course they both would lie though.
