Interesting read......... 3 races, all lead by rethugs, will be recounted. If the results hold, Rethugs will hold a 51-49 advantage. If one recount bears out a Dem winner, there will be a 50-50 split.

Thomas (R) leads Cole (D) by 82 voted in the 28th.
The count could not be certified due to many problems..... mostly a "split precinct" resulting in many voters receiving the wrong ballot. Not sure how you fix that.... Also 55 absentee ballots that the article describes as "late arriving" have been thrown out.
The other races......
Hugo (R) leads Tanner (D) by 106
Yancey (R) leads Simonds (D) by only 10. Big chance here!!!!!!!!

(58,911 posts)But I heard the Republican will contest a race they lost.

(13,871 posts)And each state is different, but SC election law would say in that first race that there is no remedy for the wrong ballot mistake in the split precinct, since there is no possible way to determine who would have voted or how.
The 55 late ballots (which were active military I believe) can be accepted since I understand they were mailed on time even though they were a day late arriving.

(21,577 posts)2 recounts filed today and a third is pending
Dems need 1 of the three seats for a tie, 2 for the lead
article says recounts will take about two weeks
