Martin OMalley: "Donald Trump is a self-basting turkey"

"Donald Trump is a self-basting turkey," said O’Malley, who recently launched a new political action committee (PAC) focused on helping Democrats win state and local races. "A lot of people who voted for him are embarrassed about his behavior."

In a recent interview with The Hill, O’Malley explained why he believes his new PAC ('Win Back Your State') can yield big results for his party – and why Trump doesn’t represent the future of the United States...

O’Malley’s Win Back Your State PAC will focus on getting national Democratic names to share their political assets with other local candidates.

He says he's been leading by example, stumping across the country for local candidates, doing what he calls an "a priori good: Helping other people win back their states to save our country."

"I hope every other Democrat with a national profile does the same," he said...

All the offices build on each other. Municipal, county, state, national. A support system.

"Win back your state" is a great slogan.

As Maryland Governor, Martin was very effective at getting a progressive wishlist passed into law, such as legalizing same-sex marriage, granting discounted university tuition to some immigrants who are in the country illegally, repealing the death penalty, and enacting strict new gun control laws.

Plus, thanks to his investments in education, Maryland was repeatedly ranked as having the top schools in the country, all while beating back college tuition hikes.

He's relatively young, has a beautiful family, including a wife who's a sitting judge, and he plays in a Celtic Rock band.

He deserves to be a contender.

The Dems need SOMEONE SPECIAL. I don't see anyone who is electrifying and would give the Repubs a good run for their money in 2020.

Maybe it could be him. Maybe he'll throw his hat in the ring.

I thought...any President MUST do something musical. Clinton played Sax. Obama could sing.

Look at his arms. Oh, my. He works out. A blue eyed Irishman who plays guitar and is smart & experienced.

He could have a lot of political allies going into 2020. I hope he makes another run for it. He was badly overshadowed by the Hillary/Bernie rivalry and was treated dismissively during the debates.

I think he has a lot of great attributes and could be a very attractive candidate.

(Right now I'm excited about Kamala Harris, but it is too early for anyone to commit to a 2020 campaign.)

I would say he was frozen out. I thought he had a much better chance of winning but he was playing in a rigged game. He would make a great president. I would still support him for 2020 should he choose to run again.
