Watching this on MSNBC right now and it has me really angry

(35,293 posts)The general belief that a Republican Congress doesn't work is incorrect
They work their asses off raising money with no time left to actually govern

(17,444 posts)Even candidates in far away races get my contribution on occasion. It has been a long time since I gave to the DNC.
I've thought, perhaps incorrectly, that the Republicans tried to keep the money centralized to keep the candidates under control.
I wonder how the totals for all candidates and for the national committees compare. There is the PAC money that also confounds comparisons.

(13,340 posts)Funding individual candidates is fine and all, but we need a centralized infrastructure to support all the candidates. There is no need to reinvent the wheel on items like data analytics, contact lists, demographic data, etc. A thousand individual campaigns with no central support is doomed to failure.
Yonnie3
(17,444 posts)I didn't suggest that central resources weren't needed. I didn't make a decision not to contribute to the DNC.
Actually, when I think about it, the reason is that they just haven't asked.

(17,444 posts)I have also given to the DNC. I have always voted for the Democrats on the ballot.
As I posted above, it's not that I will not give, it is because the candidates asked and the DNC didn't.

(15,317 posts)I guess that often gets lost in all the talk about both parties same/get the Wall St out of government/They voted for Trump because they're SUFFERRRRING!!! But the reality is GOP are much more deep pockets. ETA I'm not saying that's what you're saying. We're all constantly slammed will all that talk is what I mean.

(58,898 posts)The Republicans have the reverse issue. RNC soaked up cash for Trumps legal bills while NRCC and NRSC starved.

(68,586 posts)sure of winning get help...others who with support might win won't get support...that is what will happen and then people who say they never give to the party will post bitter diatribes about how the DNC should have supported this candidate ...and how evil the DNC is when really they should look in the mirror...what have you done to support your party and stop Republicans? The two go hand in hand. I don't mean you...just a general you. Democrats need to remember that there is no 'other' party that can stop Trump and the GOP ...only the Democratic Party and when the party is bad mouthed and starved of cash, we will lose election we shouldn't lose...And the Gop will push their policy and hurt more people.

(15,334 posts)The MSM will use this to beat the Democratic Party over the head as a bunch of losers.
It's detrimental to the image of the party.
Never mind that we care more about governing and do it better...look at how powerful and strong the Retrumplican party is will be the mantra.
Donnie Short Fingers will be tweeting about how strong and great the Retrumplicans are and people are drawn to winners.
Don't believe me? Try to find a Cleveland Browns jersey at the mall...then try to find a New England Patriots jersey.
With margins as slim as they are, we can't afford to let even the slightest advantage go.
That's why... once and for all. Dems need to get money out of politics when they have the chance.

(108,980 posts)It's much harder to raise money from lots of small donors. Bernie was successful, but he didn't raise as much as he could have if he was taking money from Super Pacs.
