Oliver Stone Responds To Melissa Gilbert Harassment Allegations

Filmmaker Oliver Stone has responded to the sexual harassment allegations actress Melissa Gilbert made against him. During an interview with Andy Cohen yesterday on his satellite radio show, Gilbert said Stone had put her through a “humiliating and horrid” audition process for his 1991 movie The Doors.

Stone said today it was clear what kind of film Gilbert was auditioning for and insisted there was “a safe environment for all actors who auditioned.”

“We auditioned dozens of actors for roles in The Doors and it was made clear from the outset that our film was going to be a raunchy, no-holds-barred rock ‘n’ roll movie,” Stone said in a statement sent to Deadline. “Anyone auditioning was told the scenes would be rehearsed and performed from a script, with my casting director, Risa Bramon Garcia, present throughout the process to ensure a safe environment for all actors who auditioned.”

Garcia added a statement of her own: “The auditions process for The Doors was challenging given the nature of the material and the subject of the film. However, every actor who auditioned came in voluntarily and was aware of the provocative material prior to engaging in their scenes.”

I saw that movie, and my first thought upon hearing her allegation was that the movie had some raunchy scenes,a nd I wondered if it was possible that they were screening people out based on them being uncomfortable with such material.

I think most offenders have more than one isolated incident, so if no other allegations come out against him, I might be inclined to believe him.

Keeping an open mind on this one.

One actresses even sued and won a settlement, and had to sign an NDA. She broke it a couple weeks ago.

Regardless, like Weinstein and Ratner, Stone is a well known harasser.

In addition, Gilbert is well respected in the industry, and is literally part of Hollywood's "Administration." She is totally establishment, and is someone who you would think would protect "Hollywood."

People going after Gilbert's honesty and rep are foolish.

I really don't understand why so many men feel the need to do this shit, when they have any kind of power.

I think far less of Melissa Gilbert for attempting to destroy Oliver Stone with false pretenses.

His behavior with Putin was like Trump's -- subservient and hanging on his every word and constant flattery of the amazing god-like Putin.

Stone is a well known skeeve, and this is the third accusation for how he treated actresses auditioning for this film. He even settled with one, and made her sign an NDA. Stuff has been out about him for decades.

Gilbert is a well respected actress, and is part of Hollywood "administration." Gilbert's accusation actually adds weight to the other women's.

Your post is gross.

without the ability to prove their innocence. Many jumped to conclusions about Al Franken, then later additional information was brought forward that makes the accusations questionable at best. Don't know how that makes my post gross.
