I think Trump was trying to tweet-shame him into quitting about when Papadopoulos was flipped. Pure coincidence I'm sure, but if you have a really vivid imagination then revenge for insult and public humiliation- or simply trying to save his neck from life in prison - is all the motivation he'd need.

If Shakespeare were writing the script, I could see it as a way to bring down the play's corrupt (and probably incestuous...Shakespeare would go there) royal house down

about his behavior. He has been involved with law all his life which would typically imply a love for the rule of law...yet he seems to be turning a blind eye to crime in the administration he is a part of.

So there seem to be only two explanations. He either is helping Mueller with hopes of coming out of this as a legal hero....or..he is so driven by his own lifelong agenda of advancing his crazy interpretations he mistakenly thinks he can get away with the "I don't recall" defense. He would be risking his whole career.

... for anyone to agree to *let* him lie under oath just to entrap Trump.

Seriously, I've only ever seen such an agreement on a Law and Order episode and it wasn't a good one for the DA.

The Republican majority won't do anything to him,
and he's not going to indict himself.

knew you did recall wouldn't be kosher? Still..there does seem to be something so odd about his behavior. Something undefined between guilt and innocence.
